The following is a valuable talk bridging type design from the Renaissance to the present digital typography. He talks about the type design constants that prevail no matter what time period.
Things like tonal quality, ems, proportion & ratio, line height, modular scales and the Golden Mean are mentioned. Don't panic! We'll talk about all these in class and how to apply them to your project.
